Body: Light grey floss
Belly: Black bucktail then white bucktail
Throat: Peacock sword
Wing: Four light dun hackles

Head: Black

Notes: Don developed this streamer after a big storm that rolled through late 2008. After working ” just under 200 hours in a 2 week pay period just to get the roads open”, Don put together this streamer to record the event and incorporated a few elements of his experience into the streamer. The overall cool shades in the streamers are for the ice and snow. The thin bunch of black bucktail represents the power lines, and the herls in the throat were placed for the numerous broken pine branches resulting from the storm. Artistry aside, this looks like a wonderful pattern to test a line with.

Don Soar – Born and raised in central Massachusetts now living in Lancaster with my wife of twenty years Nancy. Fishing started young in life tagging along with my brothers. I took up fly fishing in the early 90’s. Ten years later I started tying flies. After meeting Mike Martinek Jr. at a local fly shop I was introduced to the dark side of fly tying, the long fly.
