Notes: The Kokanee is a themed fly the Don tied after reading about them in Trout Magazine published by Trout Unlimited. He has done a superb job matching the colors of the spawning Kokanee to this streamer, and even before you know the name, this streamer screams SALMON! Don nailed it with the color combination of red, orange and yellow hackles. Kokanee salmon are essentially land locked Sockeye. For more info on the species, check out the Wiki entry.

Don Soar – Born and raised in central Massachusetts now living in Lancaster with my wife of twenty years Nancy. Fishing started young in life tagging along with my brothers. I took up fly fishing in the early 90’s. Ten years later I started tying flies. After meeting Mike Martinek Jr. at a local fly shop I was introduced to the dark side of fly tying, the long fly.
