#120 Pink Phantom - Bill Chandler

Tied by: Bill Chandler
Originated by: Bill Chandler

Hook: Gaelic Supreme Mike Martinek Streamer Hook #1 8xl
Thread: Black
Body: Copper tinsel
Belly: White bucktail
Underwing: Copper Krystal Flash
Under-shoulder: Red and black schlappen fibers
Throat: Red and black schlappen fibers
Wing: Olive and pink hackle
Shoulder: Lewis (Anderson) pheasant
Eyes: Jungle cock
Head: Black

Notes: It’s tough to find the Lewis / Anderson pheasant feathers, and when you do finally get a hold of a couple, you’ll want to use them sparingly. They are similar to that of the silver pheasant, but where the silver pheasant plumage is white with black lines, the Lewis pheasant has black plumage with white lines. The pink and olive in the wing is quite smelty, a bit of a surprising combination, but it really works.

Bill ChandlerBill Chandler – I have been tying flies for the Angler and the collector since 1978. I discovered fly fishing and fly tying by watching a Canadian angling show one Saturday morning. Since then I have spent a considerable time of my life learning both the old and new techniques of tying flies.
