#93 Sebago Sunset - Bill Chandler

Tied by: Bill Chandler
Originated by: Bill Chandler

Hook: Mustad 3907 A #2
Thread: Black
Body: Orange tinsel
Belly: Peacock herl, orange and white bucktail
Underwing: Red dyed golden pheasant crest
Under-shoulder: Red and black schlappen fibers
Throat: Red and black schlappen fibers
Wing: Orange variant hackles flanked by light dun hackle
Shoulder: Lemon wood duck
Eyes: Jungle cock
Head: Black

Notes: This is Bill’s compliment pattern to the Sebago Sunrise. The two patterns share much of the same dressing with the wing being the major difference between them. Once again, one of Whiting’s beautiful Unique Variant hackles are used for the wing, giving this pattern quite an exotic look.

Bill ChandlerBill Chandler – I have been tying flies for the Angler and the collector since 1978. I discovered fly fishing and fly tying by watching a Canadian angling show one Saturday morning. Since then I have spent a considerable time of my life learning both the old and new techniques of tying flies.
