Wing: 2 silver Dr. blue hackles flanked by silver badger hackle

Notes: This is a nod to Dick Frost’s Blue Smelt bucktail pattern. The Frosts Blue Smelt features the same tag and head in blue with a silver body. The wing was tied with layers white bucktail, peacock herl then blue bucktail. Dick’s original featured a painted white eye with a black pupil and was tied both on single hooks and tandem rigs.

Darren MacEachern – Darren has been fishing from the age of 4 all across Canada. He started on the east coast in Prince edward Island before moving west to the banks of the Bow river in Calgary Alberta. he now resides just outside of Toronto, fishing the Great lakes and the fine tributary waters around.

      Thanks Kelly. I had been looking at the Frost’s Blue Smelt for a long time wishing it was a feather-wing so it could be included, and figured I could create something. I’m pretty happy with how the pattern turned out.
