Notes: The idea for the Zebulon germinated in Kelly’s mind sometime in April 2011. The pattern has evolved into a series of flies suited to different conditions and styles such as lake, stream, low water, marabou and of course the Rangeley version. Kelly is relatively new to tying streamers, and the Zebulon was her first kick at tying a New England style streamer. She has always gravitated towards black and white, be it dogs, cats or horses, so it was a natural fit for her tie. Kelly has had a successful history of fishing all black and all white flies, but combined, it is a real attention grabber.
Kelly Lovelady – I was born and raised in Northeast Texas. I have had a love of fishing my whole life. I remember being a very small child, and fishing with a cane pole. My dad taught me how to fish. I guess fishing in my family is in our genes. I graduated to a Zebco rod and reel when I was about 11 years old. I didn’t own my own fishing equipment until the early 1980’s. I was on a hiking, and fishing trip, in upstate NY. That is where I saw my first fly angler.
