Notes: Gray Wolf was asked to create a pattern to celebrate the Town of Rangeley, Maine’s 150th anniversary. He took on the request and created a marvelous streamer worthy of the event. The fly went on to capture the spotlight with numerous newspape articles in Maine and a showcase on the cover of the Autumn, 2005 issue of Fly Tyer Magazine. Gray Wolf tied several copies of the streamer to present to Governor of the State of Maine, the descendants of the Town of Rangeley’s founder, Squire Rangeley, one for a dear friend of his and the original was donated to the Rangeley Area Historical Society. It’s not surprising that there were numerous requests for the pattern, so much so that Gray Wolf decided to tie 50 of the streamers as collectors items. He used antique John Willis & Sons hooks, Japanese silk and the best jungle cock for the job. The streamers were framed in rustic wood frames along with a brass plaque to commemorate this special streamer.

Eunan Hendron – I’ve been tying flies since I was about 10 or 11, a direct progression from fishing stillwater team competitions with my father as a young boy. I began tying classic flies (wet, streamer and atlantic salmon) towards the end of 2011, having never tied them before. A pretty steep learning curve, not for the feint of heart, but many thanks are due to the members of various forums who gave me tips and constructive criticism to aid my progression.
