Thread: Black flat waxed nylon
Tail: 2 jungle cock body feathers
Body: Silver flat tinsel
Ribbing: Silver oval tinsel
Throat: 8-10 peacock swords
Wing: A small bunch of red bucktail under a small bunch of white bucktail under 2 grizzly hackles
Head: Black

Notes: The Hurricane was designed by Oquossoc, Maine angler named Fred Fowler. The pattern is also known as the Wonder and was used as the basis of the more celebrated Barnes Special (#162) which was developed by Dr. C. Lowell Barnes. There is enough difference in the patterns that many anglers prefer one over the other when trolling for salmon in the Rangeley lakes.

Darren MacEachern – Darren has been fishing from the age of 4 all across Canada. He started on the east coast in Prince Edward Island before moving west to the banks of the Bow River in Calgary Alberta. he now resides just outside of Toronto, fishing the Great Lakes and the fine tributary waters around.
