Notes: The Platte River Special is a preverbal favourite for fishing browns and bows on the patterns namesake river. The feather wing Platte River Special was developed by Bud Miller in the early 1950’s and has since spawned several variations of the fly. Kevin’s bucktail version has become an excellent streamer for fishing during the fall season. It is as good as a dinner bell for attracting big hungry brown trout.
Kevin Kirkelie – In having a Grandfather who was a avid fisherman, I was hooked at a early age. So…from my dad’s handy craftsmanship, he made me a homemade vise to start tying with, so that set the stage for what turned out to be my greatest artistic passion ever.
