Michael’s Biography

Michael Decoteau – While growing up in the small coastal town of Belfast, Michael fished the local streams and remote ponds of western Maine with his father. His tying began at an early age, seated behind his father’s Thompson model B, and has now evolved into an occupation. In recent years, Michael has worked in the fly fishing industry for L.L. Bean and Patagonia and has been employed as a commercial fly tier for SS Flies. He has given workshops on classic featherwing streamers, and has exhibited his work at various fly tying events. Michael is now a Signature Tier for HMH Vise and operates RedSpotFly, a business focused on traditionally inspired flies and art, in Columbus Ohio. Michael’s RedSpotFly on Facebook

Not olny is Michael a talented fly tyer, he is also pretty gifted behind a brush. This is a work created by Michael for the Eldredge Bros. Fly Shop. They have turned this work into a decal, if you would like one, give them a shout on their facebook page.
