It’s been a while since I’ve seen one of these streamers on auction. It looks like an incredible specimen. The F.R.S. was named after Francis (Frank) Reast Smith (1873-1950) from Garden City, Long Island, New York. Good luck bidding.
I’ve just finished uploading 3 new hook to the site, a black finish Partridge CS15, Allcock 2811 6xl Limerick and the classic TMC 300. Click here to see the full library.
We are down to 5 months before the premier of the first streamer. The submissions are rolling in now, and I’m busy putting together the blog posts. It will be a spectacular year of streamers that will not disappoint.
Don has been busy putting together some new offerings for the upcoming show season. Those lucky enough to drop by his table will be able to pick up one of his new streamer 4 packs of classic patterns.
Don also talks about the controversial band found in Carrie Stevens patterns. It’s long been a bit of a sticking point for myself whether to use it or not, but Don makes some excellent points on why we should be including it in the dressing of her streamers. It’s an interesting read with some streamer addict eye candy.
I found a few nice auctions of Allcock and more. I would expect the auctions of the full boxes to reach between 50-100 each and the collection of hooks might go for upwards of 75.
Vintage Streamer Hooks

I had a chance today to add a few more hooks to the reference section.

There are still many more hooks to come, and I’d like to thank all those who have sent me a few hooks to help fill in some gaps. It’s much appreciated, and I hope that every streamer addict can appreciate the little reference. You can check out these and the other hooks we have up so far on the Streamer Hook Reference Page
Well, just over 8 months to go. I can already feel the deadline creeping up, but the good news is that the project is well under way and the streamers are rolling in. We have about 40 tyers on the project so far ranging from new talent to streamer legend. I’ll be adding more hooks to the streamer hook reference page soon, as I have filled a few more sets to photograph. I thought I would also share a few images from the cluttered mess this project has created so far in my office.
Mike Martinek Streamer Fly Patterns for Trolling and Casting Signed You may want to hurry to get one of these as they tend to move quickly. I normally see these sell for $40-50each and they do not come up for auction too frequently. Also note that the books are signed. For that price, I might pick up another spare. This is a must have book for and streamer addict. 🙂
With the success of the first fly given away, we though it would be a great idea to do it again.
We had over 100 people “like” our page within the first 24 hours and were quite happy to give Dan Despres the Light Blueback Streamer for his collection. Dan also happens to be an ace fly tyer, and has signed up to share a few patterns for the Streamers365 project!
