I had a chance today to add a few more hooks to the reference section.
Unknown CS15 Imitation hook
There are still many more hooks to come, and I’d like to thank all those who have sent me a few hooks to help fill in some gaps. It’s much appreciated, and I hope that every streamer addict can appreciate the little reference. You can check out these and the other hooks we have up so far on the Streamer Hook Reference Page
Well, just over 8 months to go. I can already feel the deadline creeping up, but the good news is that the project is well under way and the streamers are rolling in. We have about 40 tyers on the project so far ranging from new talent to streamer legend. I’ll be adding more hooks to the streamer hook reference page soon, as I have filled a few more sets to photograph. I thought I would also share a few images from the cluttered mess this project has created so far in my office.
Here is the wide berth of everything so far. A binder filled with streamers, a couple sets from participants, books, hooks and lots more hooks.
Some of my Carrie Stevens streamers along with part of Jim Warner’s submission.
The Allcock 8xl 1810 is a very difficult hook to find. I’ve got a few in the collection so far and am still on the hunt for more. Also the 2811 Allcocks would be nice to have in the larger sizes 8xl.
Flies from Bob Petti, Mike Martinek, Jim Warner, Dan Dupres and others.
An almost complete Brook Trout, just missing a bit of paint.
Mike Martinek Streamer Fly Patterns for Trolling and Casting Signed You may want to hurry to get one of these as they tend to move quickly. I normally see these sell for $40-50each and they do not come up for auction too frequently. Also note that the books are signed. For that price, I might pick up another spare. This is a must have book for and streamer addict. 🙂
With the success of the first fly given away, we though it would be a great idea to do it again.
We had over 100 people “like” our page within the first 24 hours and were quite happy to give Dan Despres the Light Blueback Streamer for his collection. Dan also happens to be an ace fly tyer, and has signed up to share a few patterns for the Streamers365 project!
The next giveaway will be a Carrie Stevens pattern called the Judge @ 250 likes and for 500 likes we will be giving away another Carrie Stevens pattern, the Lady Killer. We will choose the winners randomly again, and to be eligible, you just need to Like the page. You can help us get to 250 and 500 quicker by sharing the contest with your network. Just stop by our new Facebook page and click the like button to be entered!
Just a quick update on the project. We’ve now got over 100 of the flies received to post on the blog. I can tell, it’s going to be spectacular and a very busy year for me. I’ve just set-up our facebook page, and once we hit 100 “likes” on the page, I’ll be drawing a name to receive a Light Blueback Streamer, a variation of Leslie K Hilyard’s Blueback Streamer. It’s tied on an antique Allcock 1810 hook, #2. These hooks are quite hard to come by. Just stop by our new Facebook page and click the like button to be entered!
While we are waiting for the new year (I know, it’s a long way away) we thought it would be a good idea to test out our ebay account and put up a listing. You can click the link below to check out the Golden Darter tied by Darren MacEachern. We will likely present a few streamers like this before the official start, and of course, proceeds will be put towards the donations for the 6 organizations we will be supporting.
Just a quick update on the hook reference section. We’ve added Bergman Yellow Label, Gaelic Supreme Mike Martinek Rangeley Streamer 10xl, and the Gamakatsu Russian River hook profiles. I’ve got lots more to post, and I am still looking for a few hooks. You can see the newest profiles here – http://streamers365.com/hook-reference/
